Instructing Us

Our starting point is always that we want our clients to understand the processes and costs associated with our work. We also understand that, especially in relation to clients with little or no experience in the area, things can seem very daunting.

In order to help out, we have produced some general pre-instruction guidance as set out below plus some more specific information and documents that will reduce the time and uncertainty if you do decide to instruct us; as part of this help, we are now providing as much costs related information as we can on this webpage so that you can see in advance of contacting us how we will calculate and bill costs.

Before instructing us

If you want to discuss your requirements with us first on a ’no obligation’ basis, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We also have short notes on ways to save money when dealing with trade mark or design applications and, if you are new to dealing with trade mark attorneys, starting to instruct.

If you decide to instruct us

If you decide to instruct us, the process is as follows:

  • Contact us to discuss the matter (if we have not already done so, we will ask for information along the lines of the Client/Action Sheet available at the link below, which you may use if you wish).
  • We will issue our fee note showing our costings and cost proposals along with any costs requirements (e.g. possible payments on account for new clients).
  • If you accept our proposals, you engage us by sending back written confirmation (by delivered note, post, fax, or receipt-confirmed email).
  • We commence work on the matter.
  • You instruct us further and we respond as instructed.

We hope that this information is useful.
